Youth Leaders Handbook and Train-the-Trainer Materials
The Edible Cities Handbook is a learning resource for youth leaders, educators and trainers who work with young people around edible city initiatives. It brings together a competence-based approach, practical guidance and activities that connect sustainability, creativity and inclusion. The handbook is designed to help practitioners plan learning experiences in which young people can explore ideas, develop skills and take part in edible city activities.
From learning to practice
The handbook and its supporting materials are being tested with young people and youth leaders, including during the project youth camp in Porto and through national sessions in partner countries. Feedback from these activities is used to review and improve the resources.
What is inside the handbook?
The handbook is organised into eight chapters. Each chapter addresses a topic relevant to edible city initiatives and youth work, linking key ideas with practical approaches that trainers can use when planning activities.

Train-the-Trainer materials
The handbook is accompanied by eight sets of Train-the-Trainer materials. These resources are designed to help trainers prepare and deliver learning sessions based on the handbook’s topics. They include practical activities, exercises and case studies that can be adapted to workshops with young people.
